Sometimes the default settings in Windows cause a problem where either the mouse is too slow or the mouse is too fast. This can be modified using the Control Panel. Below are the step-by-step instructions to do this:
  1. Click 'Start'
  2. Click 'Control Panel'.
  3. If you see a link on the left side that says 'Switch to Classic View' then click it. If you do not see this, skip to the next step.
  4. Double-click the 'Mouse' icon. This opens the 'Mouse Properties' window.
  5. Click the 'Pointer Options' tab.
  6. Under 'Motion' find where it says 'Select a pointer speed:'. Use the sliding bar to change the speed. Sliding it to the left will slow down the mouse speed. Sliding it to the right will increase it. Click the 'Apply' button and test your settings. If it does not feel right, make some adjustments and try again. It is recommended that the 'Enhance pointer precision' box is checked.
